POLA KONVERSI LAHAN KARET MENJADI KELAPA SAWIT DAN FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHINYA DI KABUPATEN MUSI BANYUASIN

Alupina, Halima - Personal Name;

This study aims to analyze the pattern of rubber to oil palm land conversion and the factors influencing farmers’ decisions to convert their land in Musi Banyuasin Regency. The research adopts a quantitative approach through a survey method involving 71 farmers selected using proportional stratified random sampling. The research shows that most of farmers practice partial conversion (56.34%), while 26.76% have fully converted their rubber plantations into oil palm, and 16.90% have not converted. The analysis of GAP implementation indicates that rubber farmers’ adoption level remains moderate, with an average application rate of 44.46%. The highest GAP compliance is found in post-harvest practices (54.80%), while the maintenance aspect records the lowest adoption (28.25%). Binary logistic regression results reveal that four variables significantly influence land conversion decisions: farmer’s age, number of dependents, land size, and rubber farming income. Age and rubber income have a negative effect on conversion decisions, whereas number of dependents and land size positively affect farmers’ likelihood to convert. Meanwhile, rubber productivity, farming experience, and rubber plant age do not show significant effects. Financial analysis, showing that oil palm farming generates a higher Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp250.794.220, compared to rubber farming with an NPV of Rp106.360.209. These results indicate that oil palm provides stronger long-term profitability and greater income stability, making it a more attractive option for farmers in Musi Banyuasin Regency.
