DIPLOMASI PUBLIK INDONESIA MELALUI INDONESIA KOREA YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM (IKYEP)
This research aims to determine the role of the Indonesia Korea Youth Exchange Program (IKYEP) in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Korea. The background to this research problem arises from attention to the fact that the number of tourists from South Korea visiting Indonesia is relatively small compared to other Asian countries. Even though Indonesia has extraordinary natural and cultural attractions, this correlation may be caused by factors such as a lack of tourism promotion. However, the potential to increase the number of tourist visits to South Korea is still very large. The research method applied is descriptive qualitative with a primary and secondary data source approach. Primary data was obtained through interviews with practitioners who were directly involved in implementing IKYEP. Secondary data includes information from related literature and official documentation related to this program. This research refers to the concept of public diplomacy. Public diplomacy here is understood as an effort to build a positive image and increase understanding between communities through activities involving the public. This research concludes that the Indonesia Korea Youth Exchange Program (IKYEP) has succeeded in utilizing social media, such as Instagram and YouTube, to effectively promote Indonesia. Through Cultural Performance, Buddy Program and Focus Group Discussion activities, IKYEP succeeded in attracting attention, conveying cultural diversity and building friendship between Indonesian and South Korean youth. In this way, IKYEP is able to create a positive and sustainable impact in strengthening bilateral relations and improving Indonesia's image in the eyes of the South Korean people.
