This study aims to determine the social exchange in broken home families that occurs in RT.03 RW.01 Keramasan Village, Kertapati District, Palembang City. The subjects of this research were four teenagers and parents of broken home families. The method used in this research is qualitative with data collection techniques by interview, observation and documentation. The result of the study can be concluded that in this case study it seems that’s all informants are fine, but if we looks further, there is a psychological disorder MJ (20) has a grudge whit his father who abandoned them, IP (21) is verry disappointed over his mother’s behavior who does not want to meet. EW(16) really want the role of a father figure, and AH (16) who felt more at case not to live with this parents. As well as the exsistence of social exchange activites that include needs met. Freedom given, appreciation, sacrifice and level of comparison can be aspeets that can maintain natural social relationship by broken home families.
