PEMAKAIAN ZEOLIT DAN ARANG AKTIF SEBAGAI MEDIA PEMURNIAN TERHADAP MINYAK TRANSFORMATOR BEKAS
Transformer oil serves as a liquid insulation that maintains the stability of the insulation system and prevents dielectric breakdown in transformers. Over time, transformer oil deteriorates due to increased moisture content, acidity levels, changes in density, and a reduction in breakdown voltage, which may compromise the dielectric strength of the oil. This study aims to restore the quality of used transformer oil by utilizing zeolite and activated carbon as purification media, both individually and in combination, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of each adsorbent in improving the oil’s characteristics. The research was conducted using five samples with various compositions of zeolite and activated carbon (30:0, 18:12, 15:15, 12:18, and 0:30), each mixed with 800 ml of used transformer oil and processed through heating at 60°C, magnetic stirring, sedimentation for 24 hours, and subsequent filtration. The results indicate that the sample containing 15 g of zeolite and 15 g of activated carbon provided the most significant improvement, marked by a 113.709% increase in breakdown voltage, a 20.754% reduction in acidity, a 2.043% decrease in density, and a 26.043% decrease in moisture content. These findings demonstrate that the combined use of zeolite and activated carbon provides a more optimal improvement in transformer oil quality compared to the application of a single additive.
