EFEK SIMPLISIA DAUN JINTEN (PLECTRANTHUS AMBOINICUS L.) SEBAGAI BIOINSEKTISIDA TERHADAP MORTALITAS KUMBANG BERAS (SITOPHILUS ORYZAE L.) DENGAN METODE KANTONG TEH
The increasing damage in storage warehouse caused by rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae) continues to increase over time. Chemical insecticide use leads to resistance and environmental degradation. Plant-based insecticides offer a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative. Indian Borage (Plectranthus amboinicus) contains essential oil compounds such as carvacrol and thymol, which have potential as botanical insecticides. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of indian borage simplicia on the mortality of S. oryzae using the fumigation method with tea bags, as well as to determine the LC50 value. The research was conducted at the Animal Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with seven treatments (negative control, positive control (Kingphos 56 TB), and simplicia weights of 2.5 g; 5 g; 7.5 g; 10 g, and 12.5 g) each with four replications. The results showed that indian borage simplicia had a highly significant effect on S. oryzae, with the highest mortality percentage of 60% observed at the 12.5 g dose. The LC50 value of P. amboinicus simplicia was 11.14 g, indicating that this weight is effective in causing 50% mortality of the test insects.
