IDENTIFIKASI DAN KELIMPAHAN MIKROPLASTIK PADA SALURAN PENCERNAAN IKAN PATIN JUARO (Pangasius polyuranodon Bleeker, 1852) DI PERAIRAN SUNGAI MUSI BAGIAN KOTA PALEMBANG

Indriyani, Ririn - Personal Name;

The Musi River is the main route for community activities in Palembang City, which makes it vulnerable to plastic pollution, including microplastics. The Juaro catfish (Pangasius polyuranodon), a food fish found in this river, is likely to ingest microplastic particles through its digestive tract. The study was conducted from December 2024 to February 2025 at two locations: Musi 2 and 13 Ulu Tangga Takat. A total of 30 fish were collected from both locations and analyzed using a digestive tract digestion method with 10% KOH solution, followed by microscopic observation to identify the microplastic particles they contained. The results revealed the presence of four types of microplastics: fragments, fibers, films, and pellets. Fragments were the most dominant type, comprising 191 of the 406 microplastic particles found. The highest abundance of microplastics was found at 13 Ulu Tangga Takat, with an average of 17.6 particles per individual, while at Musi 2, the average was 9.46 particles per individual. The overall average abundance from both locations was 13.53 particles per individual. Statistical analysis showed that fish morphometric measurements, both body length and digestive tract length, were not significantly related to the amount of microplastic accumulated. This finding confirms that the level of microplastic pollution in the Musi River is quite high, necessitating more effective plastic waste management and increased public awareness to maintain the quality of the aquatic ecosystem. Keywords: Microplastic, Juaro Patin Fish, Musi River, Water Pollution.
