DINAMIKA PENUTUPAN LAHAN DAN SIMPANAN KARBON DI HUTAN SUAKA MARGASATWA PADANG SUGIHAN DIANALIS DENGAN METODE CITRA SENTINEL 2A BERBASIS ALLOMETRIK

Hikmana, Atep Edi - Personal Name;

South Sumatera has a peatland where most of the area is degraded. One of the important external factors is coming from the carbon stock for global warming control. Forest has a function as an ecosystem that absorbs carbon dioxide (CO₂) through photosynthesis where the plants convert CO₂ into organic compounds of biomass. The process keeps the carbon in plant tissue and reduces concentration of CO₂ concentration. Padang Sugihan Wildlife Sanctuary has an important role in climate change mitigation through a net carbon absorption using problem statement of how to estimate aboveground biomass (AGB) carbon with allometric closure and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). The purpose of the research is analyzing the dynamics of land closure, absorption potential, carbon keeping of natural peatland, spatial distribution of vegetation density and carbon stock at Padang Sugihan Wildlife Sanctuary. A method of this research is direct observation, spatial analysis, and allometric method. The result of the research shows that transformation of Land Cover at Padang Sugihan Wildlife Sanctuary during 2020-2024 periods have significant ecological dynamics with a shrinkage of secondary swamp forest and open land followed by an increase of open land, plantations and water body. The main factor is coming from Topographic, climate, hydrological and anthropogenic activities. The highest carbon absorption occurred in Plot 8 and Locus 4, with the highest CO₂ accumulation of 1.602 tons CO₂ e ha⁻¹ and 10.63 tons CO₂ e ha⁻¹, respectively. This is attributed to the dominance of Mahang species and the Lauraceae family, as well as higher vegetation density and older plant age, which contribute to the increased carbon stock
