PERAN ILO (INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANIZATION) DALAM MENGATASI KASUS PEKERJA ANAK (CHILD LABOUR) DI INDONESIA

Rianti, Inke Putri - Personal Name;

Child labor is a human rights violation that must be taken seriously. Therefore, the United Nations (UN) formed the International Labor Organization (ILO) which is very active in dealing with violations of workers' human rights throughout the world, including the problem of child labor. Indonesia is a country with a large number of child workers. This situation is caused by poverty and low education in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to understand the situation of child labor in Indonesia, to find out the role of the ILO as an international organization in dealing with the problem of child labor in Indonesia. The method used in this research is a qualitative method which is explained through descriptive analysis of child labor in Indonesia. The research in this thesis was analyzed using Clive Archer's International Organizational Role Theory to explain it. There are three roles of international organizations according to Archer, namely, the role as an Instrument, the role as an Arena, the role as an Independent Actor. Through these three roles, the ILO as an international organization that focuses on the problem of child labor in the world has been able to carry out its role quite effectively in Indonesia through the International Program on the Elimination of Child Labor (IPEC). However, the ILO faces many problems: namely, lack of awareness from the community, especially parents; the impact of low parental labor wages; there is a conflict between the rules on whether children are allowed to work. Keyword : Child Labour, Indonesia, Intenational Labour Organizations (ILO), IPEC, PBB
