HUBUNGAN VERTICAL JUMP DAN KOORDINASI MATA TANGAN TERHADAP HASIL SMASH BULU TANGKIS PADA EKSTRAKURIKULER BULU TANGKIS SISWA SMP NEGERI 1 INDRALAYA KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR

Gusten, Rindi - Personal Name;

This study aims to determine the relationship between vertical jump and eye hand coordination on badminton smash results in students who participate in badminton extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara, Ogan Ilir Regency. The method used is a correlational research method with a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of 30 students selected using a purposive sampling technique, with the consideration that only 20 students met the criteria for understanding basic smash techniques and were used as the core subjects of the study. The independent variables in this study consisted of vertical jump (X1) and eye-hand coordination (X2), while the dependent variable was badminton smash skill (Y). The results showed that the multiple correlation test produced a significance value of 0.001, which means there is a significant relationship between leg vertical jump and eye hand coordination on badminton smash skills, because the significance value is smaller than 0.05. In addition, a multiple correlation coefficient value of 0.761 was obtained which is in the range of 0.61–0.80. Based on this interval, the relationship between the two independent variables and smash ability is included in the strong category. These findings demonstrate that vertical jump and hand eye coordination play a significant role in determining the quality of students' smashes. The implications of this research emphasize that extracurricular badminton training programs should prioritize the development of vertical jump and hand-eye coordination. Both physical aspects have been shown to significantly contribute to improving students' smashing skills, thus helping to enhance overall playing performance. Keywords : Vertical Jump, hand eye coordination, badminton smash
