KEMAMPUAN COMPUTATIONAL THINKING PESERTA DIDIK KELAS VII DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL NUMERASI PERSAMAAN LINEAR SATU VARIABEL
Computational Thinking Ability is a thinking process in determining problems and designing solutions so that they can be solved effectively. This study aims to describe the Computational Thinking Ability of 7th grade students at SMP N 1 Palembang in solving numeracy problems in single variable linear equation material. The research method used is descriptive research with data collection techniques in the form of written tests and interviews. Data were collected through Computational Thinking Ability tests, the results of which were categorized into low, medium, and high levels. The research subjects were 37 seventh-grade students. Six students were then selected for interviews to explore their answers in solving problems based on the high, medium, and low categories. Based on the research results, it was found that the Computational Thinking Ability of Grade VII students at SMPN 1 Palembang was in the medium category with an average of 50.52. There were 7 students in the high category, 22 students in the medium category, and 8 students in the low category. The indicators of Computational Thinking ability decomposition and pattern recognition were the most frequently appearing indicators, with averages of 58.25 and 59.5, respectively. In contrast, the indicators of abstraction and algorithms appeared less frequently, with averages of 45.9 and 38.4, respectively. However, all Computational Thinking indicators were still in the medium category. The results of this study show that students in the low category only have one Computational Thinking Ability indicator, students in the medium category only have 2-3 Computational Thinking Ability indicators, and the high group can fulfill all Computational Thinking Ability indicators.
