HUBUNGAN FAKTOR LINGKUNGAN FISIK RUMAH DENGAN KEJADIAN TUBERKULOSIS PARU DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS KAMPUS KOTA PALEMBANG
Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) remains a public health problem in the working area of Kampus Primary Health Center, Palembang City. The occurrence of TB is influenced not only by individual factors but also by the physical environmental conditions of the house, such as natural lighting, ventilation, humidity, occupancy density, and the types of flooring and walls. Houses that do not meet health standards tend to be damp and poorly lit, which can support the survival of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and increase the risk of transmission within the household. This study aimed to determine the relationship between physical housing environmental factors and the incidence of pulmonary Tuberculosis in the working area of Kampus Primary Health Center, Palembang City. The study used a quantitative method with a case-control design involving pulmonary TB patients and individuals who tested negative for TB in the same area. The sample consisted of 111 respondents (37 cases and 74 controls). Data were collected through interviews, observations, and home environmental measurements. Data analysis was conducted using univariate, bivariate (chi-square), and multivariat (logistic regression) analyses. The results showed that natural lighting (p=0.012; OR=3.056) and house humidity (p=0.008; OR=3.220) were significantly associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB, while ventilation, occupancy density, type of flooring, walls, and roof were not significant. In the multivariate analysis, natural lighting was the most dominant factor (p=0.006; OR=3.442). It can be concluded that natural lighting and house humidity are associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB, with natural lighting as the dominant factor. It is recommended that the Primary Health Center increase home visits and provide education on healthy housing environments, as well as strengthen sustainable and integrated cross-sectoral collaboration.
