PENGARUH BONE GRAFT CANGKANG TELUR AYAM PETELUR TERHADAP RESPON SELULER PADA SOKET GIGI PASCAEKSTRAKSI STUDI IN VIVO
Background: Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a bio ceramic material that is currently widely developed as a bone graft material. In humans, HA constitutes nearly 70% of the weight of bone and teeth. This material can be synthesized from calcium carbonate derived from various natural sources. Chicken eggshells contain approximately 90% calcium carbonate, which can be used as an alternative source for the synthesis of HA as bone graft material. Methods: This in vivo experimental study was conducted in October 2024 at Animal House, Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University. This study consisted of six groups, each consisting of four rats. The left mandibular incisor was extracted and given chicken eggshell bone graft. These rats were euthanized on days 7, 14, and 21 as the treatment group, and the control group underwent extraction without treatment on the same day. The sixth group then underwent histopathological examination. Data analysis was performed using independent T-test, Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and ANOVA test. Results: The study showed a significant difference in the number of osteoclasts, which were lower on days 7 and 14, and a higher number of osteoblasts on day 14 compared to the control group. The number of macrophages, lymphocytes, and neutrophils in the treatment group lower, but not significantly, on days 7, 14 and 21 compared to the control group. Conclusion: The application of chicken eggshell bone grafts had an effect on bone formation, without any significant difference in the inflammatory response in dental socket post extraction.
