Extreme poverty remains a major challenge in regional development, including in Ogan Ilir Regency, even though statistically the national target was achieved in 2024. Changes in the extreme poverty standard indicate that this achievement tends to be administrative in nature, thus requiring more effective and sustainable strategic planning. This study aims to analyze strategic planning in the Program for the Acceleration of Extreme Poverty Alleviation (PPKE) in 2024 implemented by the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Ogan Ilir Regency using a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed based on Bryson’s (2011) strategic planning theory. The results show that strategic planning has been implemented according to the required stages; however, it remains largely administrative and not yet optimal, with major problems including data inaccuracy, weak cross-sectoral coordination, limited field monitoring, and weak legal status of the RPKD document. In conclusion, strategic planning for PPKE needs to be strengthened through data integration, reinforcement of Bappeda’s strategic role, field-based evaluation, and stronger legal frameworks to ensure real and sustainable impacts.
