HUBUNGAN FUTURE ANXIETY DENGAN PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING PADA MAHASISWA BIMBINGAN DAN KONSELING UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA

Amalina, Nyayu Nur - Personal Name;

This study is motivated by the condition of university students who face various academic demands and uncertainty about the future, making them vulnerable to experiencing future anxiety, which may affect their psychological well-being. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between future anxiety and psychological well-being among students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at Universitas Sriwijaya. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The research population consisted of 395 students, with a sample of 80 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. The research instruments included a future anxiety scale and a psychological well-being scale, which were developed based on the theoretical aspects of each variable using a Likert scale model and had met validity and reliability requirements. The results of the descriptive analysis indicated that both future anxiety and psychological well-being levels among students were predominantly in the moderate category, with variations across low and high categories. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson’s correlation test after fulfilling the prerequisite assumptions. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between future anxiety and psychological well-being (r = −0.507, p = 0.000), indicating that higher levels of future anxiety are associated with lower levels of psychological well-being among students. These findings highlight the importance of managing future-related anxiety and strengthening psychological support to enhance students’ psychological well-being.
