FAKTOR RISIKO YANG MEMENGARUHI TERJADINYA VIRTUAL AUTISM PADA ANAK
Children with Virtual Autism (VA) are at risk of developing social, emotional, and communication disorders due to excessive exposure to digital media. This study aims to determine the prevalence and risk factors of VA in children. An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from February 2025 to June 2025. The study involved 104 children, with 74 children (71.2%) diagnosed with VA. The general characteristics of the subjects show that most children are over 2 years old (62%) and spend more than two hours per day in front of screens (78%). Multivariate analysis revealed that mothers with only a middle school education increased the risk of VA by 6.3 times (p = 0.036; OR = 6.297; 95% CI: 1.056–37.417). Higher education in fathers reduced the risk of VA by 22 times (p = 0.007; OR = 0.045; 95% CI: 0.002–0.871). Mothers working in the informal sector increased the risk by 4.6 times (p = 0.031; OR = 4.609; 95% CI: 1.212–17.547). A screen time duration of more than two hours per day was associated with a 120.8 times higher risk of VA (p < 0.001; OR = 120.8; 95% CI: 25.347–572.558). Consumption of non-educational content increased the risk by 13 times (p = 0.029; OR = 13.1; 95% CI: 4.587–37.474). Children unsupervised by parents while using gadgets had a 14.3 times higher risk of developing VA (p = 0.021; OR = 14.3; 95% CI: 2.513–81.351). Limiting screen time and parental supervision are key to preventing VA in children.
