KEMAMPUAN RELASIONAL MATEMATIS SISWA SMP PADA MATERI TRANSFORMASI GEOMETRI DENGAN BANTUAN APLIKASI DESMOS GRAPHING CALCULATOR

Students' mathematical relational abilities on rotation material in geometric transformations still need to be improved, especially in connecting new concepts with prior knowledge. The use of interactive learning media such as the Desmos Graphing Calculator can be a solution because it provides dynamic visualizations to help understand geometric concepts. This study aims to describe students' mathematical relational abilities in rotation learning using the Desmos Graphing Calculator. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with a subject of a grade IX.3 student of SMP Negeri 17 Palembang. Data were obtained through a mathematical relational ability test based on four indicators, namely identifying concepts, linking concepts mathematically, performing calculations, and using formulas with correct procedures. The test was given after Desmos-assisted learning. The results showed that students were able to interpret rotation diagrams and coordinates, connect rotation concepts with geometric properties and coordinate transformations, and relate them to the geometric transformation material that had been studied. In conclusion, the use of the Desmos Graphing Calculator can help visualization, improve understanding of rotation concepts, and encourage student engagement, thus potentially strengthening mathematical relational thinking abilities.
