TOLERANSI BIBIT TANAMAN JELUTUNG (Dyera lowii Hook f.) PADA BERBAGAI TINGGI AIR DAN PERIODE TERENDAM
The purpose of this study was to determined the tolerance of jelutung plant seedlings (Dyera lowii Hook f.) to various water levels and duration of waterlogging. The research was conducted in the Agronomy Departement of Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra (3.22017655˚S 104.64736351˚E), from April to December 2024. The design of research used was a randomized nested design with two factors: waterlogging duration (D) which was nested within the main factor (P) was the water level height. This research was grouped by water level treatments with four replications, so there were 48 plant units. The treatment includes: without waterlogging (P0), 15 cm below the soil surface (P1), 5 cm below the soil surface (P2), 0 cm from the soil surface (P3), 5 cm above the soil surface (P4), and 15 cm above the soil surface (P5). The waterlogging duration factor consisted of 1 month of waterlogging (D1) and 3 months of waterlogging (D2). The observed variables included plant height, diameter, number of leaves, leaf greenness index, above and below ground biomass. The results showed that treatment 15 cm above the soil surface (P5) inhibited plant growth the most. Plants in 0 cm from the soil surface treatment (P3) had the highest average height compared to other treatments. Meanwhile, plants in the 5 cm below soil surface treatment (P2) showed better results in term of stem diameter, number of leaves and leaf greenness index, biomass above and below the soil surface. At the 3 months waterlogging duration showed seedling survival rates 100% in P0, P1, and P4, then 87.5% survival in P2 and P3, lastly 50% survival in P5.
