KEMAMPUAN NUMERASI SISWA PADA MATERI POLA BILANGAN MELALUI PROBLEM BASED LEARNING
This study aims to analyze students' numeracy skills in solving personal context problems about number patterns through the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The background of this study is based on the importance of numeracy in everyday life and the fact that students' numeracy achievements in Indonesia are still relatively low based on PISA results. This study uses a descriptive approach involving 30 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Palembang as subjects. The research instruments consist of Student Worksheets (LKPD), written tests, and interviews. The data were analyzed descriptively based on three numeracy indicators: (1) use of numbers or mathematical symbols, (2) analysis of information, and (3) logical decision making. The results showed that students' numeracy skills were generally in the “good” category, with an average score of 81.48 and a median of 86.11. The distribution of results showed that 20 students were in the high category, 7 in the medium category, and 3 in the low category. The most dominant indicator achieved was the use of numbers or symbols, while the weakest was decision making. The integration of personal contextual problems helped students connect number pattern concepts with real-life situations. Therefore, the application of context-based PBL was considered effective in facilitating meaningful understanding of number patterns and improving students' numeracy competencies.
