PERENCANAAN DAN PERANCANGAN PLANETARIUM DENGAN PENDEKATAN ARSITEKTUR PRAGMATIC UTOPIA DI KOTA PALEMBANG

Interest in astronomy in Palembang City has grown significantly, as seen from the public's enthusiasm during the Total Solar Eclipse and students' active participation in the National Science Olympiad for astronomy. However, the community's interest in astronomy remains underfacilitated. Additionally, Palembang holds great potential in education and tourism, although educational tourism facilities combining learning and entertainment are still limited. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency, the number of tourists has steadily increased from 2020 to 2023, yet 70-80% of Palembang's tourist attractions currently focus on history, culture, and nature. The construction of a planetarium could address this gap. Besides serving as a center for astronomy education, a planetarium also offers an interactive and engaging tourism experience. However, planetariums often face issues with monotonous designs. The pragmatic utopia design approach has been selected for this project as a solution to design challenges due to its visually appealing image. This will be realized through site and architectural aspects that align with the characteristics of pragmatic utopia design.
