SIFAT FISIK KACANG TANAH (Arachis Hypogaea L.) BUTIRAN PADA PENYIMPANAN LINGKUNGAN LEMBAB
This study aims to analyze the changes in the physical properties of peanut seeds (Arachis hypogaea L.) during storage in a humid environment. Several parameters observed include dimensions, volume, surface area, bulk density, true density, porosity, and angle of repose. Measurements were taken at three different moisture contents, namely 6.24%, 10.28%, and 14.11%. The results show that increasing moisture content significantly affects the physical properties of peanut seeds. The arithmetic diameter increased from 10.11 mm at moisture content 1 to 12.21 mm at moisture content 3, while the geometric diameter increased from 9.58 mm to 11.63 mm. Both arithmetic and geometric volumes also increased, from 540.42 mm³ to 953.79 mm³, and from 460.16 mm³ to 823.39 mm³, respectively. Increasing moisture content also influenced both bulk density and true density, with true density ranging from 2,990 g/cm³ to 2,444 g/cm³, while bulk density decreased from 2.002 g/cm³ to 1.656 g/cm³. Furthermore, the angle of repose of the peanut seeds increased from 21.7° to 31.3°, indicating an increase in cohesion between the seed particles due to the presence of water. This study indicates that moisture content plays a crucial role in determining the physical properties and storage stability of peanuts, which could potentially affect product quality and shelf life during long-term storage.
