PENERAPAN KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL HOUSE PARENT DALAM MEMPERTAHANKAN LINGKUNGAN YANG UNGGUL BAGI SISWA KELAS XII DI SMA NEGERI SUMATERA SELATAN

SMA Negeri Sumatera Selatan is one of the schools that uses international and national curriculum. This school is based on a boarding school that implements a house system to reduce homesickness, in the house system there are house parents who are their parents while studying at SMA Negeri Sumatera Selatan. There are problems that underlie interpersonal communication where grade XII students have learning pressure due to high expectations because they are studying at one of the leading schools. Thus, grade XII students need motivation from house parents as their parents at school. The theoretical basis for this study is the Interpersonal Communication Theory proposed by Joseph A. Devito (2016). The method in this study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through an interview process with four main informants and three supporting informants. There were findings that in the flexibility dimension not all house parents were willing to take the time suddenly to interact and for empathy house parents did not show it emotionally but in the form of action. The conclusion, in its application, house parents tend to take a personal approach to interact, always focus on the person they are talking to and provide sentences of support at the end of the conversation which produces positive things from within grade XII students at SMA Negeri Sumatera Selatan from within to academics.
