KARAKTERISTIK KOMPOSIT DARI HASIL OLAHAN NATA DE COPINA
This study aims to determine the maximum strength of the combination of Nata de copina fiber composite with a straight seam direction (continuous fiber biocomposite) and polyester resin matrix used to evaluate the mechanical properties of composites derived from processed nata de copina. This study aims to compare the tensile strength, elastic modulus, and flexural strength of composites with variations in fiber length of 0.5 cm, 1 cm, 1.5 cm, 2 cm and volume fractions of 50%:50%, 60%:40%, 70%:30%, and analyze the potential of Nata de copina as a composite material for sustainable applications. The study was conducted in February 2025 at the Biosystems Laboratory, Sriwijaya University, using a descriptive method and tested in the Materials Engineering Laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Sumatra Institute of Technology with the ASTM D 638-03 standard. Data were measured using a Zwick Roell Z250SR type tensile testing machine and validated with mechanical metrics. The results showed the highest accuracy at a volume fraction of 70%:30% with a fiber length of 2 cm with a tensile strength value of 40.31 MPA, elastic modulus: 4.43 GPA, flexural strength: 976.98 MPA.
