STRATEGI PELAKSANAAN PERAN PENDAMPING PENINGKATAN EKONOMI PERTANIAN (PPEP) DALAM UPAYA PENINGKATAN KINERJA AGRIBISNIS PADI DI KABUPATEN MUSI RAWAS
Agricultural Economic Improvement Assistants (PPEP) are recruited by the Provincial Government of South Sumatra to carry out their duties and functions in implementing agricultural extension activities for farmers and farmer groups, in order to support programs aimed at increasing agricultural production and productivity. The objectives of this study are to (1) analyze rice farmers' perceptions of the role of Agricultural Economic Improvement Assistants (PPEP) in Musi Rawas Regency, (2) analyze the relationship between the role of Agricultural Economic Improvement Assistants (PPEP) and the performance of rice agribusiness in Musi Rawas Regency, (3) Formulate strategies for implementing assistance for rice agribusiness performance in Musi Rawas Regency. Sampling was determined using Non-Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling with 100 rice farmer samples. The analysis methods used were quantitative descriptive analysis, Spearman's rank correlation test, and SWOT analysis. The results of the study show that (1) Rice farmers' perceptions of the role of Agricultural Economic Improvement Assistants (PPEP) in carrying out their role as educators, motivators, and consultants are categorized as influential. (2) The relationship between the role of Agricultural Economic Improvement Assistants (PPEP) and the performance of rice agribusiness in Musi Rawas Regency in terms of rice productivity, farmer income, and farm diversification indicators shows that there is a strong relationship between the role of PPEP and the performance of rice agribusiness. (3) Strength - Opportunities (Growth) in Quadrant I is a recommended strategy for ice agribusiness assistance, namely improving the competence of Agricultural Economic Improvement Assistants (PPEP) through training, including in the field of agricultural product marketing, and optimizing land use and supporting infrastructure through government policy and program support, thereby increasing rice productivity and the welfare of rice farmers.
