PERKEMBANGAN ORGANISASI MASYARAKAT LEMBAGA DAKWAH INDONESIA (LDII) KOTA PALEMBANG TAHUN 2001-2022

This study aims to analyze the development of the Indonesian Islamic Propagation Institute (LDII) in Palembang City during the period 2001–2022 from a social history perspective. The focus of the study is on the dynamics of organizational change, including organizational structure, religious role, social role, and economic empowerment. This study uses a qualitative approach with historical research methods, which include the stages of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and observations of LDII organizational activities in Palembang City. The results of the study show that the development of LDII took place gradually and adaptively in accordance with the social context and developments of the times. In the 2001–2005 period, LDII was in a phase of organizational consolidation with an orientation towards internal strengthening and congregation development. The 2006–2015 period was marked by the strengthening of organizational structures, diversification of da'wah, and expansion of social roles at the local level. Furthermore, in the 2016–2022 period, LDII entered a phase of modernization and digitalization, as reflected in the use of information technology in organizational management, digital da'wah, increased social engagement, and the strengthening of community-based economic empowerment programs. From a social history perspective, the development of LDII in Palembang City shows the relationship between internal organizational transformation and social dynamics. This study concludes that LDII has successfully built adaptive capacity and social legitimacy as a local religious organization that plays an active role in the social, religious, and economic life of Palembang City.
