REVERSE AGENDA SETTING PADA ISU VIRAL TAHUN 2025 (STUDI DI MEDIA TRIBUNSUMSEL.COM)
The development of the internet and social media reshapes the dynamics of news production in mainstream media. Viral issues circulating in the digital public sphere potentially influence the editorial agenda of professional news organizations. This studi aims to examine the process of reverse agenda setting in the coverage of viral issues by Tribunsumsel.com and to identify the challenges of fact verification in news production. This studi employed a qualitative method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with the editorial staff of Tribunsumsel.com and supported by documentation of social media content and related news articles. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. This analysis revealed that viral issues initially triggered media attention (agenda rippling), expanded into editorial agendas (agenda diffusion), and were subsequently reconstructed through follow-up reporting as part of reverse agenda setting. Although viral content influenced news agenda, virality was not the sole determinant, as verification and confirmation remained central to editorial decision making. This studi concludes that while public agendas shape media agendas, mainstream media must retain editorial control to ensure contextual, accurate, and ethical journalism. Keywords: Social media, Reverse agenda setting, Tribunsumsel.com, Facts verification.
