PENGARUH TINGKAT PEMAHAMAN DAN KEPATUHAN PETANI TERONG (Solanum melongena L.) DALAM PENGGUNAAN PESTISIDA TERHADAP HAMA DAN PENYAKIT DI SUMATERA SELATAN
Pesticides are substances used to control or eliminate plant pests and diseases (PPDs). In eggplant cultivation, pest and disease attacks remain major constraints as they can cause significant damage and even crop failure. This study aims to assess the farmers’ level of understanding and compliance in pesticide use, the intensity and percentage of pest and disease attacks, as well as insect diversity. The research was conducted using purposive sampling for site selection and Simple Random Sampling for collecting samples in the field. Data analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel and RStudio to process field data, and correlation and simple regression tests were applied to examine the relationship between the variables and farmers’ understanding and compliance scores with pest and disease intensity. The results showed that all variables exhibited a very weak level of association. The correlation values between the farmers’ understanding and compliance scores and pest intensity were R²adj = –0.15 and R²adj = –0.30, respectively, while the values for disease intensity were R²adj = –0.11 and R²adj = –0.20.
