PENGARUH TANAH DIATOM TEHADAP HAMA KUMBANG TEPUNG MERAH TRIBOLIUM CASTENEUM HERBST (COLEOPTERA: TENEBRIONIDAE)

Putri, Quintara - Personal Name;

Storage pests are insects that can damage harvested products, particularly healthy grains such as corn, causing a decline in the quality of stored post-harvest products. Tribolium castaneum Herbst is a pest that causes damage to post-harvest products, resulting in losses of up to 10-40% worldwide. The objective of this study was to determine the optimal dose for controlling T. castaneum by looking at the relationship between mortality and time after the application of diatomaceous earth (DE). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 1 control with doses of 0.5 grams, 3 grams, 4 grams, 5 grams, and 6 grams. Each treatment was given 100 grams of corn feed and used 20 T. castaneum imagoes. Observations were made at 8-hour, 16-hour, and 24-hour intervals for 13 days to determine the mortality of T. castaneum. The highest mortality rates were found at doses of 4 grams, 5 grams, and 6 grams. The LD50 analysis showed an LD50 value of 17.017 on the first day, followed by the lowest LD50 value on the 13th day, which was 0.321. The LT50 value on day 6 in the control treatment was 45.615, while the 6-gram dose showed a value of 1.211. On day 7, a negative value was observed, indicating a difference in the rate of mortality of T. castaneum. The 0.5/100-gram dose was able to produce high mortality with a low dose and provided the same effectiveness as higher doses.
