DESAIN PEMBELAJARAN MATERI PERBANDINGAN KONTEKS JAJANAN TRADISIONAL BANYUASIN UNTUK MENDUKUNG KEMAMPUAN BERNALAR SISWA SMP

Lasti, Nadila - Personal Name;

Ratio is one of the essential topics in junior high school mathematics as it plays an important role in developing students’ reasoning abilities, particularly in understanding proportional relationships between quantities. However, ratio learning in schools is often presented in a procedural and abstract manner, causing students to experience difficulties in connecting ratio concepts with real-life situations. This study aims to design a learning trajectory for ratio topics using the context of traditional Banyuasin snacks and to examine the role of this learning trajectory in supporting the reasoning abilities of seventh-grade students. This study employed a design research approach with a validation studies type, consisting of three phases: preparation phase, design experiment, and retrospective analysis. The design experiment phase was conducted through two cycles, namely pilot experiment and teaching experiment. The research participants were 26 seventh-grade students of MTs Al-Hidayah Muara Telang. Data were collected through written tests (pre-test and post-test), interviews, and document analysis, including students’ worksheets, students’ written work, and learning documentation. The results indicate that the developed learning trajectory facilitated students’ understanding of proportional relationships through contextual learning activities based on traditional Banyuasin snacks. These activities supported the emergence of students’ reasoning abilities, including making conjectures, constructing logical arguments, drawing conclusions, generalizing patterns, and verifying results. The integration of local cultural contexts with mathematical activities helped students connect ratio concepts with everyday experiences, making learning more meaningful and supportive of students’ reasoning development.
