KETERTARIKAN Trichogramma sp. PADA Brassica rapa L. YANG DIINOKULASIKAN Talaromyces diversus, TELUR DAN LARVA Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Yponomeutidae)
Plutella xylostella is one of the major pests attacking crops of the Brassicaceae family and causes economic losses of approximately US$4–5 billion worldwide. This research aims to determine the attraction of Trichogramma sp. to pakcoy plants induced with the entomopathogenic fungus Talaromyces diversus. The research was used four seed treatments: for the first treatment, seeds were induced with T. diversus through seed soaking; the second, fungal treatment seeds were provided with eggs of P. xylostella; the third, fungal treatment seeds were eaten by P. xylostella larvae; and the control consisted of seed without fungal induction or just submerged with steril water. The use of insecticides in controlling P. xylostella has led to the development of resistance in this pest. The management of P. xylostella infestations can be carried out through the utilization of biological control agents. The entomopathogenic fungi Talaromyces diversus serves as a biological control agent and is capable of attracting parasitoids. The results of this research show that the Trichogramma sp., which was reared in the laboratory using the factitious host Corcyra cephalonica, was tested under several treatments using a Y-tube olfactometer. The treatment that showed the highest percentage of parasitoid attraction was the endophytic entomopathogenic fungus T. diversus without the addition of P. xylostella eggs or larvae. Trichogramma sp. exhibited strong attraction to the T. diversus treatment because the fungi emits olfactory cues that draw the parasitoids’ attention. The conclusion of this research is that pakcoy induced with T. diversus possesses an attractive effect on the parasitoid Trichogramma sp. The recommendation from this research is that further research is needed to determine the effectiveness level of Trichogramma sp. attraction to pakcoy induced with T. diversus.
