EFEKTIVITAS MIKROBA DARI PEMBIAKAN BERSERI Ganoderma boninense KITIN DAN TANAMAN KUNYIT TERHADAP PATOGEN BUSUK PANGKAL BATANG SAWIT

Septiani, Mutiara. - Personal Name;

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a strategic plantation commodity in Indonesia, contributing significantly to the national economy through vegetable oil production and employment opportunities. However, its productivity continues to face serious threats from basal stem rot (BSR), a disease caused by Ganoderma boninense, a soil-borne pathogen with a wide host range and high infection capability. This disease can attack plants from the nursery stage, causing up to 100% damage and reducing productive stands. Conventional control methods such as sanitation and fungicides have not yielded optimal results and may cause environmental harm. Therefore, more environmentally friendly alternatives are needed, including the use of secondary metabolites from turmeric (Curcuma domestica) and suppressive microbes obtained from serial propagation enriched with chitin. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of suppressive microbes based on Ganoderma, turmeric, and chitin in inhibiting G. boninense. The results show that the KuGG treatment (Ganoderma + turmeric) provides higher colony inhibition and antagonistic activity compared to KuGGK (Ganoderma + turmeric + chitin). The decreased effectiveness in KuGGK is suspected to be related to chitin degradation, which redirects microbial activity away from antifungal enzyme production. EC and microscopic analyses further confirm that KuGG is more stable and effective in suppressing the growth of G. boninense. Thus, chitin is not recommended in the formulation for BSR control using this method.
