STRATEGI MAHASISWA DALAM MENJAGA KEAMANAN DIGITAL: STUDI PADA MAHASISWA PENGELOLA AKUN PUBLIK ORGANISASI KEMAHASISWAAN DI UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
The use of social media by student organizations positions public accounts not only as information channels, but also as spaces for identity representation and vulnerable points of digital security disruption. This study examines how student administrators of public organizational accounts at Sriwijaya University design and implements digital security strategies using a descriptive qualitative approach grounded in Organizational Communication Theory. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews and documentation involving six administrators of BEM and student association accounts selected purposively and were analysed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings indicate that digital security strategies are implemented through the number of administrators, managing and changing password, and applying two-factor authentication, as well as monitoring logged-in devices and configuring account recovery email setting. In addition, administrators moderate direct messages and comments that may pose reputational risk to the organization, and coordinate internally to respond to digital security incidents through technical account protection and selective public clarification. Overall, the digital security strategies for managing public accounts of students organizations are carried out through access management, technical prevention, control of potential threats, and responses to digital security disruption.
