Ornamental plants are plants grown and cared for for esthetic and recreational purposes, as well as to improve the economy of cultivation. However, they experience reduced production due to attacks by plant pests, one of which is mites. Mites are arthropods that are plant pests. This research is expected to provide information about mites living on ornamental plants in Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. Information about the characteristic symptoms of mite attacks on ornamental plants. The research was conducted from August to October 2025, using observation and purposive sampling methods in the North Indralaya area, Ogan Ilir Regency. The observation results showed 4 genera: Tetranychus, Brevipalpus, Amblyseius, and Bdellodes. And 10 ornamental plant species: Allamanda cathartica L., Bougenville spectabilis., Catharanthus roseus L., Cosmos sulphureus, Helianthus annuus L., Jasminum sambac L., Phalaenopsis amabilis, Rosa indica L., Saraca indica, and Syzygium myrtifolium. The symptoms that appeared due to this mite attack were relatively the same. Initial symptoms are usually characterized by the appearance of fine, light yellow to grayish spots on the leaf surface, especially around the leaf veins. These symptoms will gradually spread and change color to brownish. However, on thicker leaves, the symptoms of attack are not as clearly visible as on orchid plants. In ornamental plants in the North Indralaya area, four genera of mites were found, and these mites were found on 10 ornamental plants. Initial symptoms appear as yellowish to grayish spots that will turn brown, but the symptoms adjust to the thickness of the plant.
