BUDAYA PARTISIPATORIS PENGGEMAR SEVENTEEN (CARAT) PADA AKUN PENGGEMAR DI INSTAGRAM

This study examines the participatory culture of Seventeen fans (Carat) through individual fan accounts on Instagram. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze Carat's participatory cultural practices in managing their individual fan accounts. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with five informants who are owners of individual Carat fan accounts, observation of Instagram accounts, and documentation. The results of the study show that individual fan accounts function as a space for alternative identity construction and a safe space for fans. The content is dominated by content that represents romantic fantasies about idols. Fans optimize various Instagram features such as Reels, Stories, Highlights, and DMs for different participation purposes. The study concludes that Carat's participatory culture is manifested through the dimensions of affiliation, expression, collaborative problem solving, and circulation in a more personal form but still contributes to the overall fandom ecosystem.
