HUBUNGAN POLA MAKAN DAN AKTIVITAS FISIK DENGAN KADAR GULA DARAH PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELLITUS TIPE II DI PUSKESMAS BALAI AGUNG SEKAYU
Type II Diabetes Mellitus is a non-communicable disease closely associated with dietary patterns and physical activity. This study aims to determine the relationship between dietary patterns and physical activity with random blood glucose levels among Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients at Balai Agung Health Center, Sekayu. The study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. A total of 87 respondents were selected using the Lemeshow formula and random sampling. Data were collected using identity questionnaires, 2×24-hour food recall, GPAQ, and random blood glucose measurements. Data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate methods with the Chi-Square test. The findings revealed a significant relationship between dietary patterns and random blood glucose levels (p = 0.043). However, physical activity showed no significant relationship with random blood glucose levels (p = 0.313) although higher activity levels generally corresponded with better glucose control. The study concludes that dietary patterns play a crucial role in maintaining controlled blood glucose levels, while physical activity remains an important supporting factor. It is recommended that health facilities strengthen dietary education based on the 3J principles, provide continuous nutritional counseling, and enhance physical activity programs for Type II DM patients.
