ANALISIS KONDISI FASILITAS SANITASI LINGKUNGAN SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS DI KECAMATAN BANYUASIN III KABUPATEN BANYUASIN

Lestari, Anggi - Personal Name;

School sanitation plays an important role in maintaining students’ health and supporting the creation of a comfortable and productive learning environment. However, preliminary survey results indicate that sanitation facilities in five senior high schools (SMAs) in Banyuasin III Subdistrict still do not meet the environmental health standards for schools. This study aims to analyze the condition of school sanitation facilities in five senior high schools in Banyuasin III Subdistrict in 2024 based on the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1429 of 2006. The research employs a descriptive-analytic method with a qualitative approach, using observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and documentation. The study involved 35 informants. The research variables include the physical quality of clean water, toilets/latrines, wastewater disposal facilities (SPAL), solid waste disposal facilities, and handwashing facilities (sinks). The results show that most schools have access to clean water and waste collection systems that transport garbage to the landfill (TPA). However, there are still significant shortcomings, such as inadequate toilet conditions, lack of waste separation between organic and inorganic materials, and limited handwashing facilities without soap or proper guidelines. In conclusion, the sanitation facilities in senior high schools in Banyuasin III Subdistrict have not fully met the school sanitation standards. The study emphasizes the need to improve the provision, maintenance, and utilization of sanitation facilities to better support students’ health and learning quality.
