Cervical cancer ranks second as the most common cancer suffered by Indonesian women. Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) is one method for early detection of cervical cancer. Low participation of Women of Reproductive Age (WRA) in VIA examinations is one cause of increasing cervical cancer cases in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the relationship between demographic characteristics and perceptions towards WRA participation in VIA examinations in Simpang Timbangan Health Center's working area. This research is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 370 married WRA (30-50 years) determined by purposive sampling. Results showed that majority of respondents did not participate in VIA examinations (339 people), poor susceptibility perception (193 people), good severity perception (197 people), poor benefit perception (187 people), and good barrier perception (194 people). Bivariate analysis showed relationships between education level, employment status, income level, distance from home to examination site, susceptibility perception, severity perception, benefit perception and barrier perception towards WRA participation in VIA examinations. Multivariate analysis showed only one variable related to WRA participation in VIA examinations, namely benefit perception with aOR value of 2.796; CI (1.175-6.651). The other nine variables—age, education level, employment status, income level, parity, distance from home to examination site, susceptibility perception, severity perception and barrier perception—became confounding variables. Innovative and sustainable health promotion strategies are needed through advocacy for increasing Special Allocation Funds for VIA examinations, training reproductive health cadres, mentoring, home visits, forming peer support groups, and media campaigns to increase WRA perception and participation in VIA examinations.
