MASKULINISASI IKAN GUPPY (POECILIA RETICULATA PETERS, 1859) MELALUI PERENDAMAN INDUK BUNTING DALAM LARUTAN EKSTRAK PASAK BUMI (EURYCOMA LONGIFOLIA)
Male guppies (Poecilia reticulata) are popular because they are have beautiful color patterns. The production of male monosex guppies can be done with masculinization techniques. One of the natural ingredients that can be applied in masculinization techniques is pasak bumi (Eurycoma longifolia) plant. The purpose of this research was to increase the percentage of male guppies. The research method used laboratory experiments with a complete randomized trial design of 4 treatments 3 replicates. The treatment in this research was the immersion of pregnant guppies (21 days pregnancy period) in a pasak bumi extract with doses: 0.80.90.100 mg L-1. Gravid female were kept until they gave birth, and the larvae were reared for 30 days. The larvae were fed Artemia sp. and Tubifex sp. ad libitum. Sex identification of the fish was performed at the final result using a macroscopic method. The results showed immersion of pregnant females at a dose of 90 mg L-1 resulted in the highest percentage of males, namely 86.60%. The results of research are very useful for the application of masculinization techniques using natural materials such as pasak bumi.
