PROSES KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL ANTARA GURU DAN SISWA DALAM MEMBANGUN KEDEKATAN EMOSIONAL UNTUK MENCEGAH BULLYING DI SD NEGERI 102 PALEMBANG

This study aims to explore how the interpersonal communication process between teachers and students helps build emotional closeness to prevent bullying at SD Negeri 102 Palembang. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach and uses Joseph A. DeVito’s (2016) interpersonal communication theory, which emphasizes five key indicators: openness, empathy, supportiveness, equality, and interaction management. The findings reveal that teachers have implemented interpersonal communication through daily interactions that include giving attention, providing motivation, using personal approaches, and creating a comfortable classroom atmosphere. Emotional closeness is formed through open and responsive communication; however, several challenges remain, such as students feeling shy or afraid to speak openly, teachers’ limited time, and differences in students’ personalities that hinder optimal communication. Although the bullying behaviors identified were generally mild, such as teasing and exclusion, the teachers’ empathetic and supportive communication patterns helped reduce the potential escalation of these behaviors. This study demonstrates that emotional closeness built through effective interpersonal communication plays an important role in creating a sense of safety, increasing students’ courage to share their experiences, fostering positive teacher and student relationships, and that collaboration among teachers, guidance and counseling teams, parents, and psychologists can serve as a preventive strategy to reduce the risk of bullying at the elementary school level. Abstrak Indonesia : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses komunikasi interpersonal antara guru dan siswa dalam membangun kedekatan emosional untuk mencegah perilaku bullying di SD Negeri 102 Palembang. Penelitian ini menggukana pendekatan kualitatif deskripstif dengan teori komunikasi interpersonal Joseph A. DeVito (2016) yang menekankan lima indikator, yaitu keterbukaan, empati, sikap mendukung, kesetaraan, dan manajemen interaksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru telah menerapkan komunikasi interpersonal melalui interaksi sehari-hari yang mencakup pemberian perhatian, motivasi, pendekatan personal, serta upaya membangun suasana kelas yang nyaman. Kedekatan emosional terbentuk melalui komunikasi yang terbuka dan responsif, namun beberapa hambatan masih ditemukan, seperti siswa yang malu atau takut untuk terbuka, keterbatasan waktu guru, serta perbedaan karakter siswa yang membuat penerapan komunikasi belum optimal. Meskipun perilaku bullying yang ditemukan umumnya bersifat ringan seperti ejekan dan pengucilan, pola interaksi guru yang empatik dan suportif membantu meredam potensi berkembangnya perilaku tersebut. Penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman bahwa kedekatan emosional yang dibangun melalui komunikasi interpersonal yang efektif berperan penting dalam menciptakan rasa aman, meningkatkan keberanian siswa untuk bercerita, menciptakan hubungan guru dan siswa yang positif serta perlunya kolaborasi antara guru, tim bimbingan konseling, orang tua, dan psikolog dapat menjadi strategi preventif dalam mengurangi risiko bullying pada tingkat sekolah dasar.
