ANALISIS PEMBINGKAIAN PESAN BUDAYA LOKAL DALAM PROGRAM GELAR WICARA HALO PALEMBANG DI PALTV (Episode Hari Jadi Kota Palembang - Kota Tertua Di Indonesia)
This study examines how Palembang’s local cultural messages are framed in the talk show Halo Palembang broadcast by PALTV, with a particular focus on the episode entitled “The Anniversary of Palembang City – The Oldest City in Indonesia.” The objectives of this research are to (1) identify the dominant frames employed in the program, (2) reveal the implicit ideology embedded in the media framing, and (3) assess the implications of such representations for the preservation of local culture. This study adopts a qualitative approach using Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis applied to the transcribed episode. The findings indicate three dominant frames: (a) an identity–historical frame that positions Palembang as a city with a long-standing historical legacy; (b) an institutional– legitimacy frame that emphasizes the role of the Sultanate as a cultural authority and guardian; and (c) an empowerment–tourism/economic frame that links cultural preservation with tourism potential and regional development. At the ideological level, the framing tends to normalize the dominance of institutional cultural actors while marginalizing alternative or non-institutional voices, indicating a tendency toward media bias. These findings suggest the need for more inclusive editorial practices and provide recommendations for local media policies to foster more diverse and representative cultural narratives. Keywords: framing, local culture, media ideology, local television, Halo Palembang.
