HUBUNGAN SELF CONTROL TERHADAP KECENDERUNGAN FEAR OF MISSING OUT (FOMO) PADA MAHASISWA PENDIDIKAN PANCASILA DAN KEWARGANEGARAAN (PPKn) UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
The use of social media can trigger relatedness, such as the need to always be connected with other people, which makes them want to always be part of their social environment. The purpose of this study is to see how the self-control possessed by PPKn students at Sriwijaya University can suppress the psychological phenomenon of relatedness that triggers the emergence of FOMO. This research method uses a quantitative approach of correlational research. The total sample consisted of 139 students from the 2022, 2023, and 2024 cohorts through simple random sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire using a Likert scale, supported by observation and documentation. The data analysis process included validity and reliability tests, as well as Pearson's Product Moment correlation test to see the relationship between variables. The results showed that both self-control and FOMO relatedness were in the moderate category. Other findings also revealed that self-control was related to FOMO relatedness, where an increase in self-control was associated with a decrease in FOMO tendencies. This confirms that having good self-control can play an important role in reducing the need for excessive social connectedness in the digital world.
