EVALUASI KINERJA DAN KELAS JALAN KABUPATEN MUSI RAWAS UTARA

Permata, Indah - Personal Name;

The evaluation of road performance and the suitability of road classification is an important aspect in ensuring that the road network is able to accommodate traffic demands under both existing and future conditions. This study aims to evaluate traffic performance and the suitability of road classification on border road sections in Musi Rawas Utara Regency. Traffic performance analysis was conducted using the Volume Capacity Ratio (V/C) and Level of Service (LOS) indicators based on the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997. Travel distribution analysis was carried out by developing an origin–destination matrix to describe interregional traffic movement patterns. The research data were obtained from traffic surveys conducted in 2024, including traffic counting, freight transport surveys, and intercity passenger transport surveys, namely intercity transport within the province (AKDP) and intercity transport between provinces (AKAP). These primary data were supported by secondary data in the form of the road network map of Musi Rawas Utara Regency and regional statistical data. The results indicate that, in general, traffic performance on the studied road sections remains in good condition, with relatively low V/C values and levels of service predominantly ranging from LOS A to LOS B. However, several road sections show a tendency for increasing traffic flow that may potentially reduce road performance in the future. The road classification suitability analysis reveals that although operational traffic performance is still considered good, inconsistencies exist on several road sections between the designated road class and the physical condition of the road as well as the traffic volume served. Therefore, appropriate handling strategies are required, including improvements in pavement quality, capacity enhancement, and traffic management, in order to maintain the sustainability of road network functions and support interregional connectivity. Keywords: road performance, road classification, V/C ratio, level of service, travel distribution, road network, Musi Rawas Utara Regency
