HUBUNGAN SANITASI LINGKUNGAN TERHADAP KEJADIAN STUNTING PADA ANAK USIA 0-59 BULAN DI KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR TAHUN 2023
Stunting is a form of growth and development failure in toddlers that can cause long-term effects. Environmental sanitation factors indirectly contribute to the occurrence of stunting cases, where optimal environmental conditions will have a positive effect on the realization of optimal health status. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between environmental sanitation and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 0-59 months in Ogan Ilir Regency in 2023. The study design was cross-sectional with secondary data from the 2023 Field Learning Experience. The study population was all children aged 0-59 months with household observation objects in Tanjung Batu and Pemulutan Districts with a total of 30 villages, and a final sample of 1076 respondents was obtained through total sampling. The research analysis included univariate and bivariate analysis (chi-square test). The results showed a significant relationship between toilet ownership (p-value = 0.029) and wastewater drainage facilities (p-value = 0.011) with the incidence of stunting. Meanwhile, there was no association between clean water sources (p-value = 0.454), drinking water treatment (p-value = 0.103), and waste management (p-value = 0.307) and stunting. It can be concluded that environmental sanitation can increase the risk of stunting in children. Efforts are needed to improve access to and provision of basic sanitation facilities, particularly regarding toilet ownership and wastewater drainage facilities.
