Sungai Musi merupakan sungai terpanjang di Provinsi Sumatera Selatan dan memiliki peranan penting sebagai jalur utama perdagangan, sarana transportasi, serta sumber utama penyediaan air bagi penduduk. Sungai ini juga dimanfaatkan oleh berbagai aktivitas industri seperti industri pupuk urea, pabrik karet, industri batubara, serta oleh masyarakat yang bermukim di sepanjang alirannya, khususnya di Kota Palembang. Aktivitas masyarakat dan industri tersebut berdampak pada pencemaran perairan Sungai Musi, salah satunya adalah keberadaan mikroplastik. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan sebanyak 356 partikel mikroplastik yang terdiri atas fiber (27 partikel), fragmen (48 partikel), film (251 partikel), dan foam (30 partikel). Jenis film mendominasi temuan karena berasal dari fragmentasi plastik sekunder seperti kantong plastik dan plastik kemasan yang umum ditemukan di daerah pemukiman. Hasil identifikasi mikroplastik pada ikan Baung (Mystus nemurus) menunjukkan bahwa dari 30 sampel yang dianalisis, seluruhnya (100%) mengandung mikroplastik. Temuan ini menunjukkan tingginya tingkat pencemaran mikroplastik di Sungai Musi dan potensi dampaknya terhadap ekosistem perairan serta kesehatan manusia. Kata Kunci : Sungai Musi, Mikroplastik, Ikan Baung, Pencemaran Perairan. The Musi River is the longest river in South Sumatra Province and plays a vital role as a main trade route, a means of transportation, and a primary water source for the local population. It is also utilized by various industrial activities such as urea fertilizer production, rubber processing, coal industries, as well as by dense residential communities along the riverbanks, especially in the city of Palembang. These human and industrial activities contribute to the pollution of the Musi River, including the presence of microplastics. This study identified a total of 356 microplastic particles, consisting of fibers (27 particles), fragments (48 particles), films (251 particles), and foams (30 particles). Film-type microplastics were the most abundant, originating from secondary plastic fragmentation such as plastic bags and packaging, which are commonly found in residential waste. Analysis of Baung fish (Mystus nemurus) samples revealed that all 30 specimens (100%) contained microplastics. These findings highlight the high level of microplastic pollution in the Musi River and its potential impact on the aquatic ecosystem and human health.
