ANALISIS SPASIAL DETERMINAN PENYEBARAN KASUS MALARIA DAN IMPLIKASINYA TERHADAP KESEHATAN KERJA DI WILAYAH DATARAN TINGGI KABUPATEN MUARA ENIM
Muara Enim Regency is a highland area in South Sumatra that has officially achieved malaria elimination status. Nevertheless, the region is characterized by extensive mineral mining activities, agricultural areas, and aquaculture practices that may support the formation of breeding sites for Anopheles mosquitoes. Therefore, investigating risk factors for malaria among workers remains important to understand the potential for malaria reintroduction in an elimination setting. The results showed that occupation, length and duration of employment, nighttime outdoor activities, use of mosquito repellents, and proximity to rivers were significantly associated with malaria incidence among workers. Proximity to rivers was identified as the dominant risk factor for malaria incidence (OR = 4.06; p = 0.03). Preventive measures include the use of protective clothing during work or outdoor activities, proper management of abandoned mining pits for vector control, and the strengthening of health education as a preventive strategy to sustain malaria elimination in mining areas of Muara Enim Regency.
