PENGGUNAAN PAKAN BERBAHAN BAKU LOKAL PADA PEMBESARAN IKAN GABUS (Channa striata)
One of the challenges of snakehead fish farming is finding feed that is both affordable and high in protein. This study aimed to determine the effect of using locally sourced feed on snakehead fish growth. The research was conducted at the Aquaculture Laboratory and Experimental Pond of the Aquaculture Study Program Universitas Sriwijaya Department of Fisheries from July to August of 2025. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replicates: commercial feed (P0); substandard salted fish raw material (31%), shrimp head meal (36%), and meat bone meal (8%) (P1); substandard salted fish raw material (10%), shrimp head meal (60%), and meat bone meal (5%) (P3); and substandard salted fish raw material (50%) + shrimp head meal (15%) + meat bone meal (10%) (P2). Parameters observed included absolute fish growth, fish survival, protein efficiency ratio, feed efficiency, and water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and ammonia. Results showed that the treatment with 10% salted fish, 60% shrimp head meal, and 5% meat bone meal (P3) produced the best results: absolute growth of 2.19 cm and 3.57 g in length and weight, respectively, with a protein efficiency ratio of 1.56 and a survival rate of 89%. This treatment resulted in an absolute growth of 2.19 cm and 3.57 g in length and weight, respectively, with a feed efficiency of 67.04%, a protein efficiency ratio of 1.43 and a survival rate of 89%.
