OPTIMALISASI PEMANFAATAN TAMAN DAN KOLAM RETENSI SEBAGAI ELEMEN PENGENDALI GENANGAN AIR SETEMPAT

Muthmainah, Nyimas Atika Marwiyah - Personal Name;

This study examines the optimization of park areas and retention ponds as elements for controlling localized urban inundation, focusing on the Kambang Iwak Kecik Retention Pond in Palembang City. Frequent inundation in this area is influenced by land use change, limited drainage capacity, sediment accumulation within the pond, and increased surface runoff due to urban development. These conditions reduce the effectiveness of the retention pond in mitigating peak runoff. The research methodology includes hydrological analysis, evaluation of drainage and retention pond capacity, sedimentation analysis using the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE), and spatial analysis based on Geographic Information Systems to delineate the catchment area. Assessments are conducted for both existing conditions and post-normalization scenarios. The study also evaluates the application of Low Impact Development (LID) strategies, namely permeable pavement and infiltration trenches, as complementary measures to reduce surface runoff. The results indicate that the existing storage capacity of the retention pond is insufficient to accommodate the design flood discharge. Normalization improves storage volume but does not completely eliminate inundation risk. LID implementation contributes to runoff delay and reduction, yet its effectiveness remains limited when applied independently. The most effective solution for inundation control is achieved through an integrated approach that combines retention pond optimization, sustainable landscape management, and comprehensive LID implementation across multiple spatial scales.
