ANALISIS PERAN PETUGAS KESEHATAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN CAPAIAN ASI EKSKLUSIF DI PUSKESMAS INDRALAYA KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR
Providing exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of an infant’s life is a crucial intervention to support child growth and health. However, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding at Indralaya Public Health Center (Puskesmas Indralaya) remains below the national target, reaching only 51.2% in 2023, while the expected target is 80%. This study aims to analyze the role of health workers in improving the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding coverage at Indralaya Public Health Center. This research employs a qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with seven informants, as well as observation and document review methods. The findings show that health workers play several key roles: as communicators, they provide communication, information, and education to breastfeeding mothers both directly and indirectly; as motivators, they offer moral support to mothers to remain consistent in providing exclusive breastfeeding; as facilitators, they provide supporting facilities such as lactation rooms and posyandu services; and as counselors, they offer guidance to mothers facing difficulties in breastfeeding exclusively. These findings indicate that health workers play a crucial role in achieving exclusive breastfeeding targets at the health center.
