DOMESTIKASI IKAN PUTAK (NOTOPTERUS NOTOPTERUS, PALLAS 1789) DALAM KOLAM BETON DAN KOLAM TERPAL
Bronze featherback (Notopterus notopterus) is an economically valuable freshwater fish in South Sumatra, Indonesia. Increasing consumer demand for N.notopterus has led to increased exploitation in the wild. To increase the population and production, cultivation is necessary. This study aims to determine the growth and survival of N. notopterus in concrete ponds and tarpaulin ponds. This research was conducted at Laboratory of the Aquaculture Study Program and the Experimental Pond, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya from June to July 2025. This study used a comparative study method by comparing different rearing containers, namely concrete ponds and tarpaulin ponds, with each treatment repeated three times. The test fish used had a total length ranging from 19.2 to 20.3 cm and a body weight ranging from 55.8 to 58.8 g. The fish were reared for 30 days and fed live swamp shrimp (Caridina sp.). The feed was given at a rate of 1% per fish biomass, twice a day. The data obtained were analyzed using a paired t-test. The results showed that the absolute weight growth of N.notopterus kept in concrete and tarpaulin ponds was 57.33±0.38 g and 57.20±0.42 g, respectively. The total length growth and specific growth were 1.68±0.2 cm and 1.23±0.28 cm, respectively, with specific growth rates of 0.37±0.01%/day-1 and 0.36±0.02%/ day-1, respectively. The feed efficiency of N. notopterus reared in concrete and tarpaulin ponds was 46.0±7,82 % and 36.53±4,78 %, respectively. The survival rate of N.notopterus reared in concrete and tarpaulin ponds was 91.7±11.8% and 83.33±23.57%, respectively. Based on the t- test results, the growth performance, feed efficiency, and survival rate of N. notopterus reared in concrete and tarpaulin ponds were not significantly different (P < 0.05). The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for further research.
