EFEKTIVITAS CAMPURAN METHYL EUGENOL DAN EKSTRAK SERAI DAPUR SEBAGAI ATRAKTRAN LALAT BUAH (BACTROCERA SPP.) PADA LAHAN TANAMAN CABAI (CAPSICUM SP.) DI DESA PULAU SEMAMBU, OGAN ILIR.
Chili plants (Capsicum sp.) are a horticultural commodity with high economic value, but their production is often hampered by fruit fly (Bactrocera spp.) attacks, which can cause yield losses of up to 30-60%. General control using synthetic insecticides causes problems with residues that are harmful to health and the environment. Methyl Eugenol (ME) attractants have long been used but are limited because they only attract male flies. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus L.) has potential as a natural attractant because its essential oil contains methyl eugenol compounds. This study was conducted in Pulau Semambu Village, Ogan Ilir, in August 2025. The method used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 5 replicates. Observations were made 16 times over 8 weeks at a frequency of 2 times per week. The treatments included a mixture of lemongrass extract and methyl eugenol to see their effect on the number of fruit flies caught. The results showed that the addition of lemongrass extract to the methyl eugenol attractant had a significant effect on the number of fruit flies trapped. The species successfully identified included Bactrocera dorsalis, Bactrocera umbrosa, and Bactrocera cucurbitae, with B. dorsalis being the most dominant species caught. Data analysis showed that this mixture provided significant attraction compared to attractants without the mixture. The fruit fly community structure, as measured by diversity, evenness, and dominance indices, tended to be stable and showed no significant differences between treatments. The addition of lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus L.) extract to the Methyl Eugenol attractant was effective in increasing the attractiveness and number of fruit fly (Bactrocera spp.) catches on chili plants compared to the use of a single attractant. The use of this combination can be an environmentally friendly pest control alternative and help reduce dependence on chemical pesticides.
