ANALISIS PERBEDAAN PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP IBU BADUTA TENTANG PEMBERIAN MAKANAN TAMBAHAN DI KECAMATAN BANYUASIN I DAN KECAMATAN BANYUASIN III

Stunting is one of the major nutritional problems among children under two years of age (baduta), resulting from chronic malnutrition and leading to impaired linear growth. Banyuasin Regency ranks as the area with the third highest prevalence of stunting in South Sumatra Province, reaching 24.4% in 2025. The government has implemented various strategies to reduce stunting, one of which is the supplementary feeding program (PMT). The success of the PMT program is strongly influenced by mothers’ knowledge and attitudes, as mothers are the primary caregivers responsible for fulfilling children’s nutritional needs. This study aimed to analyze differences in mothers’ knowledge and attitudes regarding supplementary feeding between Banyuasin I and Banyuasin III subdistricts. A quantitative analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The sample consisted of 102 mothers, with 51 respondents from each subdistrict, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed a significant difference in mothers’ knowledge (p = 0.036; p < 0.05), whereas no significant difference was found in mothers’ attitudes (p = 0.291; p > 0.05). These findings highlight the need to improve mothers’ knowledge and strengthen their attitudes through continuous education provided by health workers and posyandu cadres to support stunting reduction efforts in the region.
